The UKBathroomGuru Site Survey Process
The 1st step towards your new bathroom, en suite or downstairs loo is to request a site survey above.
After you click the link above either myself or Anouska will get in contact with you by phone to take some details and arrange your personal site survey.
During this free 30 minute + meeting I will come to your house and discuss your bathroom installation needs, whether you are looking to simply refresh your bathroom to sell your house or want a full scale wet room or en suite installation that will involve a multi-disciplined team of plumbers, electricians, plasterers, joiners, tilers, floor fitters etc.
I will measure up the room and look at your current plumbing & drainage facilities (which will affect the layout of the new bathroom) as well as your boiler / hot water system and your fuse box. I may also take a couple of photos as a reference for when I am pricing up the work later.
After listening to what you would like for a while, I will make some suggestions as to what I think will work in your space, and talk to you a bit about how I work (most of which will be covered here.
Within a week I will send you a fully itemised, detailed estimate as shown below.
This will include all of the fixed costs of the job as well as any potential costs (that may only arise after beginning the work) whenever possible. Please see my article on
hidden bathroom installation costs for an explanation of this.
All prices will be split into different trades as well as labour & materials (where possible) so if you want to do the painting yourself for example you will know how much you could save.
It will also state who is responsible for what and when e.g. customer will supply a & b before work commences, we will supply x, y & z upon commencement of work etc.
An itemised, clear, detailed estimate essentially acts as a contract between you (the customer) and me (the contractor) and helps hold both parties to account, limiting risk on both sides.
Depending on the complexity of the job, I may also include a scale drawing as shown above to show you the proposed layout.
As well as helping you to visualise the new layout, this also helps to spot any potential problems such as shower doors clashing with towel radiators and clearance spaces between suite items.
If the installation is more complicated or you have trouble visualising the finished result I will sometimes do a 3D plan to assist.
I will also provide links or pictures to suite items I have priced for or direct you to my local supplier’s showroom if applicable.
All items supplied by me are high quality items I have normally installed many times before that come with larger than average warranties (10 years+ on all taps / showers etc).
I will also advise you of the following:
- When I am available to do the work
- How long the work will take
- Any other special considerations specific to your job.
During this time, feel free to get other prices to compare (just ensure you are comparing like for like!) or take a look at our
FAQ’s.
